Meet Kristie

I am a mother of twin boys, an East valley native who grew up in Chandler, and a lawyer-turned-mediator running for the Arizona State Senate to represent Legislative District 13. I was born and raised in the East Valley, grew up right here in our community, and graduated from Dobson High School.

I attended Trinity for college, where I deepened my lifelong commitment to public service. I later worked on Capitol Hill for both Republicans and Democrats, staffing 10 senators, helping craft policy, and gaining a firsthand look at how decisions are made and how bipartisanship once worked in the halls of power.

When the September 11 attacks occurred, I had just begun graduate studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, where I was studying terrorism and international security. I was working near the White House, saw smoke rising from the Pentagon, and learned that my father had been walking into the World Trade Center for a meeting on the 96th floor when the first plane struck. He survived, but two of my cousins and more than 350 of my father’s colleagues at Marsh McLennan did not. Within 24 hours, I traveled from Washington to New York and witnessed firsthand the devastation, fear, and extraordinary national unity that followed. 

That experience shaped my understanding of the threats our country faces, the responsibility of government to keep people safe, and the importance of protecting our security without abandoning our democratic values, civil liberties, or respect for those who serve. I went overseas to work at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, where I saw what happens when leaders abuse their power while everyday citizens are simply trying to survive. 

Eventually, I returned home to Arizona to build my legal career, raise my family, and stand up for people whose voices too often go unheard. I represented families for mediation services, stood up for members of law enforcement, and protected people’s rights.

I believe in the American Dream. But for years I’ve seen life get harder for the people of LD13. It’s because of bad policies and lawmakers answering to elite special interest groups, not their constituents. I’ve had enough, and I know you have too.

Now I am running for the State Senate in Legislative District 13 to bring my passion for public service and my experience solving problems to the State Capitol. I will fight for the community that raised me. I will fight for you.
